I experience a relief. Can it be that I am a real internet/email addict?Of course, I know that I have pursued addictive behavior previously (with food, not with drugs), and that there is all kind of addiction in my family (food, no food, drugs, alcohol, whatever you want). Are the only people that are sitting in a cafe at a sunny afternoon elderly ladies?—————————————And now, one of them is eating an apple pie.

The Hill reports that because of Republican defections, the House will be forced to debate a resolution on the Iraq War:House will debate Iraq By Alexander Bolton House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) told Republican colleagues yesterday that they will have a full and lengthy floor debate on the Iraq war, a dramatic change of course for GOP leaders who had previously resisted Republican and Democratic calls for such a debate.Four House Republicans have signed a Democratic-sponsored discharge petition that would begin 17 hours of debate over Iraq on the House floor. Neil Abercrombie’s resolution (which was introduced last June) includes the following findings:(9) The armed forces of Iraq number more than 76,000 troops as of June 8, 2005, and are growing in number and capability daily.(10) The forces of the Iraqi Interior Ministry number more than 92,000 personnel as of June 8, 2005, and are growing in number and capability daily.(11) The United States has in place a timetable for training, equipping, and employing Iraqi security forces to take over the counterinsurgency mission from coalition forces.Did you know that Neil Abercrombie and 66 of his colleagues are so upbeat about Iraq? (Of course, that’s not saying much, because House Democrats are so far to the left that half of them qualify as ‘among the most liberal’).The only major difference between the Abercrombie position and the White House is this:to initiate such a withdrawal as soon as possible but not later than October 1, 2006.Abercrombie wants us to tell the insurgents when we’re leaving.John Murtha has another of the Democrats’ resolutions on Iraq.

Christopher Hitchens in Slate on the Mary McCarthy CIA leak case, here:Joseph Wilson’s RevengeWhy no special prosecutor for the latest CIA leak case?By Christopher HitchensPosted Monday, April 24, 2006, at 1:31 PM ETSlateIf Mary O. (You can look it up if you like in my book No One Left To Lie To.) At that time, I interviewed a number of CIA people, both on and off the record, and came to the conclusion that it was the wrong factory in the wrong place and had been blitzed mainly because of Clinton’s difficulties with Monica Lewinsky. And the New York Times rushes to her aid, with a three-hankie story on April 23, moistly titled Colleagues Say Fired CIA Analyst Played by the Rules. This is, after all, the line sternly proposed by the New York Times and many other media outlets in the matter of the blessed Joseph Wilson and his martyred CIA spouse, Valerie Plame.I have a sense that this is not the media line that will be taken in the case of McCarthy, any more than it was the line taken when James Risen and others disclosed the domestic wiretapping being conducted by the NSA. But one cannot argue, in the case of a man who says that his CIA wife did not send him to Niger, that the proof that his wife did send him to Niger must remain a state secret. I await the squeals that will follow when this rod is applied, which it will be again and again.Joseph Wilson update: In my article last week on Wilson’s utter failure to notice the visit of Saddam Hussein’s chief nuclear diplomat to Niger, I mentioned his substitution of another Iraqi name—Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf—as having just possibly approached some Niger businessmen and officials at an OAU summit in Algeria in 1999.

Jamie started complaining that he never gets a full weekend with Samantha since she goes to church on Sundays. Jamie said, “I choose not to go to a church.” Well, the Judge said I am not going to take the time away so the child can sit at home on Sundays when she could be in church getting a religious education. Well, the judge did give Jamie one Sunday a month so Samantha can’t go to church the first Sunday of the month, which happens to be communion. It was the first Sunday of the month so I didn’t expect Samantha to be coming to church. When Samantha found out that she was not going to get to come to church she punched the door. Well, I was running around the church helping a lady and she was showing me some things that she asked me to help with and I didn’t get to talk to my mom until we sat down for the service. Just as I sat down I saw Jamie, Julie and Samantha all coming in and sat down on the second row across from mom and I. Samantha always insists on us sitting on the Second row she would prefer the first row but we manage to get on the second row instead. I knew Samantha was a Brownie and guess who is her Scout leader…if you guessed Julie, the evil, girl friend, you win. Hee hee… Well, Pastor Ryan asks Samantha to come up to the front with him and Julie follows her up. So, Jamie and Julie got an hour and twenty minute sermon on Hell and how important it is to surrender your life to Christ and be a believer. Julie would lean as far over as she could and talk to Samantha and glance over at me to see if I was looking at her. He told her that he didn’t think Samantha would be attending. Well she snapped at him saying, “You were miss informed.” He told her that he would recognize Samantha and say a prayer for her if she was in the service. After I got myself under control the Lord started ministering to me and I began praising the Lord and praying for Jamie and Julie.

-ne Yesterday, Stephen Harper promised to raise the pension income amount from ,000 to ,500 per year (a conservative classic) and to create a Seniors Council to advise the minister responsible for seniors (which certainly isn’t; (Something tells me Bill didn’t like that all that much.) The PM’s strategy seems to be to try to move left, not by attacking the NDP, but by attacking über-rightie George Bush.Gilles Duceppe is being taken to task for saying that he wants at least 50% of the votes in Quebec.
Logon to www.messageinabottleproject.com and let me know. Update it, and send it on its way.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Location:Contrary to what I wrote in the note I released it on the way back in a flooding current in the Buttermilk Channel at around 14:00.google mapReport:I was paddling with two friends from Pier 96 in Manhattan to Brooklyn. The original plan was to go to south brooklyn and look for old bottles on one of the old piers We were delayed so we decided to stop at Pier 41 in Red Hook. The air was about 35 with a 5-10 knot wind from the south. Skies were mostly sunny. The very gracious, Steve, from Steves Authentic Key Lime Pies sold us a pie to share for lunch and let us sit in his woodstove heated clubhouse. We ate lunch there. Steves dog Mango had just had a litter of very cute Jack Russell Terriers. After lunch Mango or I, Im not actually sure who, broke one of Steves vintage FLORIDA Alligator ashtrays. I was blamed for it, and Steve threw us out. We had a nice current for the paddle back up the Buttermilk then up the Hudson River.

Array-ne The New York Times Company (NYT) has more than its share of trouble. That is, almost all the operating profit of the newspaper group.Since the New York Times newspaper contributes most of the revenue for the News Media Group, its financial fate is critical to the company. It is an editorial organization that a barely profitable print operation cannot afford, especially one that is experiencing ongoing circulation losses. The New York Times is now the third largest paper in New York City as measured by circulation in the NY area. The New York Post and The New York Daily News are ahead of it.A retreat to local coverage to cut editorial costs, which is something that is already happening at big dailies in Philadelphia and Los Angeles, may not help the Times.

-ne Question: Use the resources for either Bye’s Echo Chamber Project or Olsen’s Blogumentary Project to address the role that vlogging or open source documentary production/journalism can play in MSM production of news stories. New toolkits, e.g., laptops, camcorders, WiFi, open source tools for editing/collaboratingResponse: Kent Bye’s Echo Chamber Project is an ambitious attempt to incorporate the audience into the mix. Bye is also pulling people into the phenomena of vlogging. But I have to wonder if this project will be more beneficial than the mainstream media.

I would then need some medicine to cheer me up again and to bring back that smile on my face. Hehe. Why is it everytime I hear your voice, I’d think of your smile and laughter and then I’d end up smiling and giggling? Cause you came into my life at the time when I actually needed smiles, laughter, belief and faith, as I was pretty much losing those then.Anyway, getting back to my topic in mind. When we decided to head back, he offered to take me home, which I was pretty surprised considering the whole time after what cousin said, he wasn’t much into smiling and talking. He happily obliged to wait for me while I went in to grab my digi cam. However, when I came out,the smile had faded from his face and he told me that he had to go back that day. He was pretty embarrassed about it too, as his crew was kinda teasing us about it.But then he looked down and quietly said that if I still wanted to take a pic with him, I could, he’d just ignore the teasings…I felt a lil guilty and didn’t want to put him up to those teasings, so I bravely shook my head and told him that he didn’t have to. It’s actually pretty funny actually, cause in the dream, when I talked to him about the group, I was embarrassed and shy to ask him where was…well,my favorite member of the group (don’t get me wrong, I like all of them, just that he’s…well, special) I would ask about the others but never about my favorite.Lol.

Honestly, I think I did pretty well…I think. As in, …………………..After my latest cracked dam today, or specifically, the first time since my exams that I’ve actually gotten emotional over something and cried, I think my brain became a lil too sluggish. *Sheepish grin* I downloaded a clip of the guys at one of their silly events, geez…I never knew they were so insane at times, lol, and at the ending of it, due to some reasons, the guys broke down in tears. And I mean really, really broke down in tears. The guys had thought all their hard work and effort of promoting a sudden concert within a day itself, had gone to waste. But I can’t stand the sight of the people that I like/love crying…cause I’ll end up feeling upset and start to cry too.

It was funny because he was this 6 foot tall Canadian that keeps banging his head on the short ceilings, so Primo is building the doors to be over 6 foot tall so that he can walk in the church.Primo might have the worst teeth I have ever seen on a human being, but he has the best smile. We went back down the hill and had a quick breakfast. So I guess we had to pay him an extra 50 bucks or so.We got back going again, only to stop to get some gas at a gas station. I think the lady didn’t give me back the right change and gypped me out of a few pesos, but I didn’t figure it was anything to get worked up over. The roads were pretty smooth from then on until we got back to the Roca Blanca. When we got back we started to unload everything. We had been told that dinner was about to be served, so we headed over to the cafeteria, which basically was just a big thatch roofed porch overlooking the beach.I didn’t feel like eating, so I told Kent that I was going to go out on the beach. I kept on telling Kent that I wasn’t going to go any further out, but I kept on going out further and further. But there was something about being out there in the ocean that made me feel at ease for the first time in a long time. And now looking back on that event two weeks later, I long for feeling again. After getting my fill of having seawater rushing through my sinuses and half of the Pacific floor settling into my pockets, I decided to get out. Everyone else was making their way out slowly and I decided to join them.I had brought a bottle to throw out in the ocean, so I went back to my room to get it. The tide kept sweeping it back to shore though. Sorry.)After a bunch of people discussed politics and the role that the church has in politics, which I tried to stay out of as much as possible, we headed back to the guesthouse and had some team time.

I spent the day or two before that creating the first set (which takes place on a space craft) and creating the model for Lady Sophia. This includes the women as well as the men.As I mentioned above, I have created the spaceship interior, but what I don’t have yet is the exterior (for the first panel of the chapter). I can, as I did for the Prologue, create one myself, but I really don’t think my efforts create the quality that I’m looking for.

The only things I did on that power on were: burn 2 CDs (MemTest86, and Win2K (for the laptop I’m getting)), then run MemTest86 . I immediately went into the hardware status, and it said 58 C - after that short run. I get it running for a while, put MBM5 on, and MBM immediately starts screaming The CPU has reached 76 C, which is greater than the maximum temperature you set of 70 C!…

Array-ne So to finish off my week 7 diary, here is an account of Venice and Geneva. After a 3 hour ride in a cabinet styled train (as in Anastasia- unfortunately they are not as cool as it looked in the movie) we finally reached Venice where water was everywhere. How gorgeous is this picture of sunset in Venice (right)?Everything was so pictueresque, especially the gondolas. On the left, we have a picture of the Bridge of Sigh. Other touristy things to see is the Basillica of San Marco (left) and the Palace of the Doges (right). In times of high tide, the piazza (left) is actually flooded and gondolas can actually float on it sometimes. But I settled for a simple white and gold half mask . . . . . Unfortunately they blocked off this official entrance, so we could only take pictures from this angle (left) and had to go in the back way. . . . Getting to drive a speed boat in the middle of a beautiful lake (even though it wasn’t going too fast) was definitely memorable ;).
link

The single-color eyeshadow I have has a really great texture. For me, Lavshuca (and Shiseido’s Majolica Majorca) are the only two shelf-top brands that feature both top quality products and great packaging. Other nearby countries in East Asia have already caught on the trend and many people there want a piece of Lavshuca as well.As long as it keeps the dreaminess, the fun, and the coolness of the brand, I think Lavshuca will continue to be very popular.

Then a big pizza that was half steak, tiny delicate onion rings, arugala and mustard aioli (amazing!) and half shrimp with an arrabiata sauce. We washed it all down with a tasty pitcher of sangria.Today we are off for a road trip up the New England coast and we leave for The Garden State tomorrow. We call to check on El Sid nearly constantly (she’s just fine, apparently).

-ne The first birthday issue of The Shed magazine - the indispensable (and free) pdf lifestyle magazine for all shedworkers and those who work in shedlike atmospheres is now out.

-ne Dear Roxie,Upon my homecoming from the Supermarket today, as I walked through the door with a 20 pound turkey hanging from one hand and a 20 pound girl tucked under the opposite arm, I saw laid out before me the evidence of gratitude. Your love is slowly driving me insane. Here’s what I saw on the floor of the kitchen when I walked in the door just an hour or so ago: an empty ice cream container, a plastic dessert tray, the crystallized remnants of a doubly soiled diaper, and a host of brown baby wipes.I remember that diaper when it was still intact. It usually is.I know you love The Boss and can’t get enough of her toddling goodness. Mealtime with The Boss is NOT a gift that keeps on giving. I’m sure the bacteria that remain, so gloriously invisible to the naked eye, are nothing a can of Lysol (or two) won’t eradicate. Or maybe you won’t quite make the connection, and will patter off huffily, in the dead of night, in search of something else to be thankful for.
link

-ne In the spirit of overindulgence at Thanksgiving, the KOTBR decided to review not one, but two - count them TWO - beers at the latest Roundtable. If you have been there, go back and tell them you’re coming back is because we recommend it so highly. Not only does all that good stuff we’ve already said about them make them a great place, but they also have Humphrey, the Humping Dog on tap, and within reach of my barstool of choice, which is endless entertainment for me (if you want to know what I’m talking about, you’re just going to have to go in and see for yourself). So enough of the commercial for Deano’s - let’s get down to the brew review!JASON: There is an ongoing discussion amongst the Hoosier Beer Geeks about how to properly pronounce the name of the Canadian brewer Unibroue. Thankfully, the fruitiness of the beer subsides as you continue to drink it, so for me, the beer became better as I continued to consume it.The taste also had plenty of fruit to it, but like the aroma, the fruit subsided as time went on. It’s a beer that’s better when you just enjoy it instead of analyzing it.I initially was going to give this beer three mugs. But I’m going to give it a bonus half mug for the intangibles: being more enjoyable as you go along, being a good beer to just sip and enjoy, and being one of the better fruity beers that I have consumed. And I look forward to reviewing both beers in the future. Now, I know that many were disappointed that my beer review was not in haiku this time. And perhaps you Shakespearean prose experts can tell me if I’m doing this correctly…The first of ales reviewed by us was darkIts name was Trois Pistoles, a pungent brewIt held a nose of ripened plums so strongAnd tasted much the same but pleased me notA beer for others, those from northern landsThree tankards worth of ale this drink does rateThe second beer to pass my lips was calledThe name Maudite, a finer brew it wasA whiff of caramel and molasses strongA flavor same as nose, a lovely tasteI’d order yet another if I couldBut that would leave me sprawled upon the floorFour tankards worth of ale this drink does rateCHRIS: I’m going to recuse myself from an actual review.
